About the Owners- Jim and Dana Maloney
In 2017, our middle son and his wife brought our first grandchild into this world, Beatrice Louise Maloney. Because we wanted to be an active part of our granddaughter’s life, we made the decision to move from North Carolina to the Eastern Shore of Alabama to be with family. Our love for adventure, travel, and meeting new friends plus our experience in Charlotte as AirBnb superhosts inspired us to visit Fairhope, Alabama and shop for resort property for family vacation rentals. We instantly fell in love with this beautiful historic home overlooking Mobile Bay and dreamed about renovating it as a bed and breakfast on our 200' of beachfront. We made the plunge, began extensive renovations to every inch of the place and opened Jubilee Suites bed and breakfast in April 2018.
We love being grandparents- can anyone relate? In 2021, our second granddaughter, Ann Alice, was born and this year we've been blessed with a third granddaughter, Francis! As resident hosts, we feel so fortunate to have found this beautiful place to call home and to be able to share it with our guests, friends and family. Many evenings we like to sit on the bayside bluff and soak in the sunset. Sometimes, we'll look up to be amazed that a bald eagle is flying overhead. We'd love to have you join us for one of our Sunset Celebrations! The views are stunning and the sunsets really are like no other. Our luxury suites are peaceful and private – perfect for a weekend or a week-long getaway.

History of the Jubilee Suites Building
The building that houses Jubilee Suites was built in 1940 in Mobile, AL as either a barracks or as an apartment building to house war workers... accounts vary. It has been through many renovations and changes in ownership since then. In 1947, it was purchased, disassembled and trucked to its current location and reassembled by the owner, Mr. Shoop. After renovations, it opened in 1948 and was named Sunset Beach Hotel. In the mid-1950s it became Eastern Shore Apartments and Cottages and operated as apartments for almost 30 years. In 1987, it was transformed into Away at the Bay, a bed and breakfast by Dr. and Mrs. Gravlee. Since our purchase in 2017, we have renamed our new home Jubilee Suites, updated the property and each and every suite, and have begun to meet new guests who quickly turn into returning friends. It is a truly versatile bed and breakfast, and we want to share it with you very soon!
